Café Koosje is a charismatic ‘brown café’ in a lively part of Amsterdam, buzzing with activities. Have a seat on our lovely, sunny terrace and savour Koosje’s best dishes and drinks.
Our guests are a fine blend of people who appreciate a tasty meal in good company. Locals and visitors from all walks of life consider Koosje their living room. Home of students and tourists, where business and culture shake hands. We like to call it happy chaos.

Food
Café Koosje is open five days a week from 9.00 a.m. -including Sundays- to enjoy a delicious breakfast.
The not-that-early-birds that like to sleep in we serve both breakfast and lunch until 16:30 p.m.
Looking for a quick bite to eat after a visit to Artis Zoo with the kids? Koosje will fill your tummies gladly with anything nutricious. Already from 17:00 p.m. dinner can be served.
We aim to use fresh, biological and sustainable ingredients.
Drinks
Serving a wide variety of choices, we cater for all tastes all day: an energizing espresso, fresh ginger tea, elderberry juice, sodas, special brews, fruity wines, bubbles, liquors and of course exciting cocktails. Anything sweet or savoury on the side? Coming up!
To sit and relax on Koosje’s sunny terrace and watch the world go by. Or inside our café, nice and warm. This is the life!

Groups
Large and small groups will receive a hearty welcome at our famous ‘borrelavondje’ (an all-in night out with drinks and snacks). Anything’s possible at Café Koosje. Please, keep in mind that Koosje is the favourite café among ‘borrelaars’. Do reserve on time!

Reservations
We do not work with an online reservation system and therefore we kindly ask you to make a reservation for up to 15 people BY PHONE on (+31) 020 3200 817. We will instantly inform you about the availability.
Groups of more than 15 people (lunch, dinner, drinks) can send an email to info@koosjeamsterdam.nl. Your reservation is final when you have received a confirmation.

Café Koosje is situated in the centre of the Amsterdam Plantage area, opposite Artis Zoo, near the Hortus Botanicus botanical garden, Wertheimpark, several museums and the old Jewish quarter. An attractive area, dynamic and with a strong drive for cultural development.
In this part of Amsterdam, towards the end of the 17th century, beautiful gardens were designed for its inhabitants. Hortus Botanicus was founded in 1682, Artis Zoo in 1838. Urban planning and housing began after 1860.
In 2001 Café Koosje settled in the Plantage area, which is still green and lush. Amid flora and flora, let Koosje’s alluring scents guide you. You are very welcome!

Café Koosje can easily be reached by public transport.
Trams 9 (from and to Central Station) and 14 stop in front of the café.
Metro
Waterlooplein metro station is within walking distance.
Auto
Parking (limited) is allowed at Plantage Middenlaan for €6,= per hour.
Markhoven and Waterlooplein parking garages are within walking distance (comparable parking rates).
At Artis Zoo a parking area (reduced rates) is available for visitors of the zoo. Artis advises to travel by public transport.
